Who I really am Blog Readers? Here’s my story…
Hey Blog Readers,
I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a bit
about myself. I mean, since I’m going to be teaching
you what I know about Internet Marketing, you may as
well know a bit about me and how I came to learn about
it all for myself.
Basically Internet Marketing started for me when I
turned 18 years old. I got my first computer and I
knew right away that there was money to be made from
the Internet.
My first searches online were about making money.
Well to be honest, they were more what a normal 18
year old male searches for, but money interested me
as well. Ha ha.
I was very much a student in the beginning and was
unsure who to listen to or what to learn. So I just
read everything and anything that piqued my interest.
My First Online Success…
I didn’t really make too much money in the first
couple years until I finally felt I knew enough to
release my own product. It was a simple little guide
in which I shared my own learning and techniques on
how to make money online.
I told people; what to sell, where to find it, and
where to sell it. It was a very simple little guide
but for some reason, it sold. It was my first major
success. I sold over $5000 worth of this $20 guide
in no time at all.
And as one success happens, another one usually
isn’t too far behind. One seems to grow out of the
other.
My First Trademark…
I started an online newsletter dedicated to helping
teach people how to start an online business. Funny
thing is, that’s the very newsletter you just signed
up to!
GuruMarketer.com became my first trademark and it
is the newsletter that I have been running for over
10 years now.
It All Came Crashing Down…
However about 6 years ago, the server that my
newsletter was hosted on has some sort of crash and
I lost everything. At that point, I had over 18,000
subscribers. It was a huge blow to me. I thought
I was finished.
After about a week of crying at the thought of
having to get a real 9 to 5 job, I just sucked it up
and instead went to work at rebuilding my ezine using
just my own knowledge and some hard work.
I created some freebies that I would give to my
new subscribers and wrote up a messages series to
once again start teaching people how to set up an
online business.
I released the 12 part mini course along with some
really cool bonuses and went into the Internet Forums
dedicated to Internet Marketing and told my story
about how I lost my list and how I was rebuilding it.
The story really hit home with a lot of people and
they started subscribing to my newsletter. Once I
had about 2000 new subscribers I started doing ad
swaps with other ezine publishers where I offered my
12 part mini course and bonuses for free in my ads
to their newsletter lists.
My subscriber base skyrocketed. In less than 6
months I had over 20,000 new subscribers which was
more than what I lost.
I was making quite a bit of money from my new email
list telling them about new products or services that
I was using all the time. It was super profitable.
So I set out to teach again.
I Authored Another Ebook, Another Success…
Next I wrote up a 51 page guide detailing exactly
how I was able to create my list that big in that
short of a time, and how I was able to consistently
profit from it.
I named the ebook The Opt In Strategy.
Since there were a bunch of tools I had to use I
included those links in the ebook and made it
brandable. I simply gave away copies of the ebook and
told others to do the same to create their own email
lists.
But I also charged $67 to place your own affiliate
links into the ebook. I sold over $12,000 worth of
brands. It was another great success.
Trying the Partnerships…
My other successes included a partnership on a
website called 117ChristmasGifts.com which spawned a
targeted email list of over 20 thousand opt in
subscribers in only 14 days time. I also made over
$22,000 in that same period on the back end.
We did 117FreeGifts.com right after that which
wasn’t as big a success as the first but still managed
to grow to over 12,000 new subscribers in only 7 days
as well as a paycheck of over $7000.
I eventually walked on this partnership because I
started feeling that this wasn’t what I really wanted
to do so I just walked away from it. I learned a lot
from it and was happy that I was a part of it when I
was.
Who Am I Now?…
So basically I would call myself a list builder and
an affiliate marketer. That’s what I do best and
always has been. It’s how I’ve been able to make a
full time income on part time hours for the past 12
years of my life.
I think having an email list and being an affiliate
marketer is the best way to make long term profits
online because once you have an email list, if you
treat them the right way, you’ll always have a very
long list of potential customers when something really
cool comes around.
So, now I’m going to do my best to teach you how how
I’ve done this all Blog Readers.
So please read my emails. If you find them boring
and basic I apologize, they will get better. I try to
account for the newbies as well!
